Who should attend?

English as a Second Language (ESL) individuals who want to learn about their rights and responsibilities and filing requirements, should attend the ESL Tax Education Workshop. All ESL families who live in underserved communities are welcome to attend the ESL Tax Literacy Clinics for tax help with IRS Notices and Letter Interpretation, basic tax preparation guidance, W-2, 1099s, and tax-related questions or concerns.

Seniors who live in underserved communities are welcome to attend the Senior Tax Clinics for tax help with IRS notices and letters, basic tax preparation guidance, W-2, 1099R, and SSA-1099, and tax-related questions or concerns.

Underserved communities include: Individuals facing economic hardship, disabilities, limited English proficiency, limited or no access to essential resources, services, or opportunities.

How long is each ESL Tax Education Workshop?

Each ESL Tax Education Workshop covers five (5) tax topics. Each tax topic is 1/2-1 hour including a 15-25-minute Q&A session. During registration, online or walk-in, each participant will be allowed to ask a general question as well as during the Q&A session.

Will there be materials distributed?

Each attendee to the ESL Tax Education Workshop will receive a course agenda and handouts.

Will there be an entry fee to participate in the activities? Tax return preparation and e-filing fee?

There is no entry fee to participate in ESL Tax Education Workshop. There is no tax return preparation and e-filing fee if a person meets the low-income requirements. Otherwise, there will be a nominal charge for tax return preparation and e-filing for individuals who exceed the low-income requirements. The ESL Tax Literacy Clinic and the Senior Tax Clinic will only prepare and e-file basic/simple tax returns, 1040-SR & 1040 (simple return), i.e W-2, 1099R, SSA-1099. Basic/simple tax returns do not include Schedules A, B, C, D, E, etc.

How many activities may I attend?

There is no limit to the number of activities you may attend. The ESL Tax Workshop/Clinics and Senior Tax Clinics are held on the specific dates as indicated in the Dragon Tax Lady Site Schedule and Activities page. If you choose to attend via virtual online, registration is required for each activity in order to receive the Zoom link.

What virtual platform is used to delivery the Live/ Hybrid (in-person + Zoom) ESL Tax Education Workshops?

We use Zoom.com platform as the delivery method for our Live/ Hybrid (in-person + Zoom) ESL tax workshops. You will receive a zoom link at the registered email within 24 hours before the ESL tax workshop is scheduled to start.

Where is the in-person designated location?

We use different locations to hold the tax clinics and workshops. The Dragon Tax Lady Sites for 2026 tax season are located in Federal Way, WA. We will designate the location in the Dragon Tax Lady Site Schedule and Activities page next to the activities and date. You will receive an email confirmation for the in-person attendance if you choose to schedule an appointment. Otherwise, when you arrive via walk-in, an appointment will be given to your at sign-in. You will be required to bring the email confirmation for a scheduled appointment and government issued ID at the door for entrance into the activity. Seating is limited per facility site requirements. First-come, first served will be administered for all walk-ins.
